I cant seem to find a gun for this caliber. What can I do to get one?

Are you looking for one of the original 700 BDL's, a Remington Classic, a Remington Custom Shop rifle, or just an action to build one of these?

Check Gun List, GunsAmerica, GunBroker, Auction Arms, etc...

You have to remember though, the reason Remington quit making rifles chambered for this cartridge is because they weren't selling well. It might be hard to pick up a used factory rifle chambered for the 8mm Mag. Any rifle chambered for a 375 H&H or 300 H&H or cartridge based on these (and left full length) could be rebarreled with an 8mm barrel and the chamber cut for the 8mm Mag.

An old Remington or Winchester PF chambered for the 375 H&H might be the cheapest route. A Douglas or Walther barrel for a couple hundred bucks, a couple hundred bucks in gunsmith costs.

There's a Remington 700 BDL 8mm Mag for sale in the latest Gun List paper. Has a Leupold 4-12x scope, condition is rated "As New In The Box" for $850. Contact is Paul Grundmen (707) 764-5744.

Also in Gun List is a M721 in 300 H&H for $499. All it would take is for a smith to rebarrel and cut the chamber. I don't think there would be any rail issues.

If you wanted one in a Ruger No.1, of course a 300 Win Mag or any of the standard magnum casehead actions could be used. A simple rebarrel would have you in business.

Did you pick up that 8mm Rem Mag off your friend? No sooner had I decided to build an 8x68S using the funds I'd gathered from selling my 458WM, when a RemBDL came up for sale in 8mm Rem Mag, so I'm picking it up next week if it passes inspection. Factory ammunition is hard to find, but... 300H&H cases can be fireformed and necked up as a cheap option, they'll shorten a little but that's hardly a problem. I'm extremely happy as my long dreamt of "core rifle battery" is now almost complete:
Rem BDL 8mm Rem Mag w/ 4X Leupold (about to be bought)
Rem Safari Classic 375H&H w/ 2.5x Leupold
Rem BDL in 470 Capstick w/ 2.5x Leupold (being built).

There are a few small brass making shops that continue to make cases for the 8 Mag, if you don't want to go the 300 H&H or 375 H&H or 7mm STW route. Seems the STW might be the option.

Quality cartridge will make the 8mm Mag brass with the proper headstamp for you, if you that is something you require.
