I will soon be in the market for a IWB Holster and I am looking for ideas. Anyone have a favorite you can suggest. I have been looking at Brommeland Gun Leather holsters and they look like quality pieces. I just want to explore all the options that are out there.

All my ccw holsters are the open top Don Hume brand, 7 at present

You may find quality equal to Brommeland, but you won't find better. There are many makers who sell high quality rigs, but the ones who actually attend to the users needs are a small group, of which he is a member. Just my own preference - open top, dual attachent IWBs. A retention strap should not be necessary on an IWB that is properly fitted to the gun. Do yourself a favor, and decide now to get a belt from your holstermaker. The difference in cost is a barrier at first, but the difference is carry is vast.Put it another way - don't begin your carry experience with a half-vast belt :roll:

May I mention Alessi and Horshoe Leather. Both a excellent and have excellent customer relations. I have Horshoe and would easily recommend Andy. Alessi, well he is a class act and his product is very good.
Tough choices, but at least the choices are very, very good.

Some great names listed above, big fan of Alessi.

Since the leather is covered, I'll mention the "plastic" :wink: For a Kydex holster I'm a big fan of the Sidearmor products.... http://www.sidearmor.com I have a IWB for my XD9 and love it. Also have a 4th generation IWB on order for my Glock 27 and a OWB modular for my XD9.

Milt Sparks Summer Special. It has a metal lined throat for easy on-hand reholstering, and for vaious pistols and revolvers over 30 years, it's been a good friend.

Thanks for all the replies...I may try Alessi too. They are only a 10 minute drive from my house. I don't know if they take walk-ins but I think I will drive by on my way home tonight. I never realized that they were so close to me. It's always good to support the locals.

My main carry holster is a simple Uncle Mike's IWB. Its about as versitle as you can get.

You might take a look at Milt Spark's VM-II, particularly if you live somewhere hot. I was out running around in the northern Nevada heat most of the day today, and it comfortably conceals a full-sized .45 auto quite nicely under a bloused shirt. Where to put the spare magazine is a bigger problem than concealing the 5" .45.

All my leather bear, including my IWB holsters, are all from Mitch Rosen. Fit is perfect. Great retention but still allows smooth draw. With holsters, just like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Here's a second for the Milt Sparks VM2. I carry my full size 1911 all day w/o any problems at all. Like a previous poster responded, you get what you pay for. Any of the above listed leathersmith's will provide you a very high quality holster.

Thanks William...I actually lost 40 lbs in the past 9 months or so...The blood pressure was creeping up and I wasn't happy with a 38" waist...Now I am in 34 jeans and couldn't be happier...Down to 200 lbs now.

I have tried a bunch and swear by the Milt Sparks Summer Special 2. One more opinion for you to consider.

I'll cast a vote for DeSantis, although I like Alessi a lot as well. But I have a DeSantis that came out of their "Loser-Bin" that cost me ten bucks, and I wear it every day. After two years, it still looks like new, carries like a dream, and keeps my 3" M-65 right where I want it......close by all the time.

And the best part is, nobody else knows it's there. But I still have my security blanket.
