I swapped a .45 Colt Blackhawk to get a new Gibbs Rifle Company Enfield in 45-70 Govt. today. It is an impressive piece of firepower, to say the least.
The barrel has a set of Williams adjustable sights on it. The barrel is nicely blued and not too heavy, keeping the whole gun well-balanced. There is a compass in the butt trap. Wood is smooth and blond with a light finish.
The only thing that worries me is the lack of recoil reduction on the stock.
I have been told (and read ) the gun is capable of Marlin 1895 pressures, but plan on keeping the power to Trapdoor levels right now.
Anyone ever try one of these guns that would care to comment?
Thanks
Coltrane
