The 91/30 Mosin arived today from Collector Firearms.. opening the box i was very impressed..  100% bluing, excellent bore ,, all numbers match,
even the spike bayo had matching numbers...only very minor dings in the butt stock,,, and someone already removed the shellac and gave the wood
a nice red mahognay stain...
This one is dated 1943 from the Izhevsk arsenal , round hi wall reciever
came with dog collar sling and a excellent ammo pouch...

Ill will shoot a few boxes of light and heavy ball ammo afterwork today
if it shoots as good as it looks ill be very pleased.... may be the best

Congrats on your first one but after shooting it, you may get the disease and want more of these old guns.  It seems I have more fun plinkin/shootin with the cheaper guns.                  BigBill

The 91/30 Mosin arived today from Collector Firearms..

patm41,
Very nice purchase, I have had my eye on a very clean M38 (1942 Vintage) that they want $129 for.... I've been trading with them for years. One of the salesmen is a High School friend. I can (and have) spent hours there. Where do you shoot? I go to Baileys and unnerve the Remchester bunch (see post about Hungarian M44 & Ammo). Good shooting to you.

My local dealer is a Mauser Broomhandle  and Luger collector , he was just going thru Collector Firearms web site looking for anything new they may have when i saw the Mosin... looking at the pics and seeing the firearms that my dealer obtained from them and they give a honest description of the guns they sell... i decided to order it...

I will do bussiness with them again ,,, Im wanting a C96 with a detatchable stock,  bad and they seem to always have a nice collection of them..

I will take the Mosin to the local club here later this morning , they are having a NRA Hi Power shoot..

Make sure you check the bore on the C96 some of the ones I've seen are shot out because the ammo was very corrosive.  The Lugers are another thing its all about matching numbers and stamps/markings so looking for one of these we have to know what we are looking at too.  I don't know too much about both of these but I just started looking into them too.  There were relined barrels from numrich on the C96 but there out of stock right now.  I did find replacement barrels for Tokarev's at numrich which is good because there was very bad corrosive ammo in these too.  Some of the Tokarev's are getting hard to find too and the price is up on them too.                                                                        BigBill

Congrats on your new rifle! I too am a fan of "lower priced" milsurp weaponry. It would be nice to see a couple pictures of your new purchase. I live in central Texas as well. I asume you are talking about ARC when you mention the "club". What dealer in our area is into Lugers? That is one area I know NOTHING about. I am sure I would be taken to the cleaners if I bought a Luger pistol! I shoot at Eagles Peak since ARC is so far away from where I live. Hope to see you at a range! Good shootin'...

patm41,

Again, Congratulations from North-Central Texas!!!  We need more Mosin-Nagant people and you probably realize now, once you've had one - the great deal of enjoyment they provide.

Would also like to see pictures of your new 91/30 (and I know that you know how to do it!) and also would like to hear the comments from the Range Shooters when you showed up with that Mosin.......

Waitin' to hear and Take care,

RB

Oh man i been caught at the range by one of you guys lol...  Sorry if i dont recall you im bad with names,, remind me next weekend at the service rifle match...
I did shoot the Mosin just to test its function after every one left ,, it didnt blow apart or anything lol... it functioned fine as i thought it would.. but wouldnt group very well ... ill work on the sites at the next outing with it
and also when i got home i discovered the barrel to be copper fouled ..
a good scrubbing and solvent took care of that.. patches went from green to white with a little elbow grease..  that may have been the problem with the groupings... i didnt clean it very well as i picked it up friday from my
dealer..   Yes Arch at A&C Firearms is my dealer i known him for 20 years
and is a great guy...not to mention a rabid collector too...
I did shoot my PSL a little also but still need to do some agjusting on the scope before i do any serious work with it...

This next weekend when the service rifle match is held ill bring my Maddi
and shoot with you guys .... not a real accurate rifle but sure is fun to shoot..
Pics of the Mosin will be avaliable in the future as alot of my stuff is packed dew to us moving to a new house and i dont know which box the cam is in  lol...

Do they have a website?  My Mosin is about shot out.  I slugged the bore today and there wasn't enough rifling left to turn the slug... it just slid over it.   Came out smooth on the other end.
