I strongly recommend you consider a progressive lens. Rather than have it ground for ALL DISTANCES, have the near focus be at the edge of your arm's length. The lens will be lighter. It will have significantly less distortion. And it will remain useful much longer than bi- or trifocals. Remember, progressives are [infinitely] adjustable while trifocals are zeroed for three specific distances.
If you choose to go this route, the best available lens is Zeiss Gradal Top. A very good lens that is significantly less expensive is Varilux Wide-view.
Regardless of what lens you buy, GET GLASS! Grind will be more precise -- that is, you'll see better. And glass is much more scratch resistant than any plastic.
The only demonstrable downside to having glass lenses is that what I suggest is less impact resistant than polycarbonate.
I use only glass lenses, including my safety glasses in the shop.
Hope this helps.
