I'm pretty sure that they won't fit a used barrel to your frame.

Only new barrels purchased from them.

I'm guessing here, but they have a $15 labor and $10 freight policy for new barrels, so I have a feeling they would do it for $25 if they felt your receiver was suitable for the caliber. If your barrel is loose, I don't know if there is anything they can do about it. I got lucky, the 223 bull I bought used is too tight on my 280 and just right on my 30-30.

Hi scattergunner, the first thing to do is to try it on your frames. It might fit a frame you have great as is, you never know. Shotgun barrels don't develop as much pressure as centerfire rifle barrels but the fitting is the same. The shell headspaces on the rim cutout in the chamber area so as long as the lockup is nice and tight with no looseness and no slop or excessive space between the receiver and breech end of the barrel your pretty well good to go. After trying the barrel in the receiver and in the event it locks up nice and tight, try to open the action without pressing the release lever. It should not open. In case it does open and fully close it several times "with vigor" but not excessive force. This sometimes "works in" the locking mechansim. There are those that say we, the end users, are incapable of fitting a barrel but this is not true. None of the above is "fitting information" other than trying to see if your new (to you) barrel will fit your frame. Many of us have additional barrels both centerfire rifle and shotgun we have been able to purchase from others and they work fine. Try these hints and if you need more help let me/us know. I take it this is to fit a .410 barrel right?....<><....    (how did I know that?)

If its too loose they fit a new hinge pin and then refit all the barrels.I had this done on a shotgun.I had all the barrels except 10 and 28 ga.

msp - how did you guess it was a .410 ??!!?? :)

well, it seems the right thing to do is to try the barrel first to see how it fits. if it doesn't , we can make this a group effort !!

this will be my spare grouse gun for the fall, they are already teasing me, i saw 4 cocks today while walking my dog around 6:15 AM, it's going to be a good fall !!!!

Would you believe just a lucky guess?, no I think not. The .410 barrel I got out of the lot is going to be my Partridge gun for Maine this Fall!! I guess great minds think alike.  Hopefully many will fall to these barrels!!!....<><....

mspret -

that 410 barrel is SCHWEET !!!!! it's taper is great, it's a lot lighter than my standard NEF 410 barrel. i can see a 3 pound  410 in my future !!!!

but, NEF won't fit it, it's actually an old H&R barrel. it doesn't lock up, not even close, with the receiver i want to use with it, so a lesson in fitting is hereby requested. i do need to order the extractor and other stuff.

Scatter gunner, I guess the barrel has arrived!!! If the barrel is to tight to close or lock up your in business, that is the easiest fitting. I will get back to you and I think that e-mails or a phone call rather than this forum is the best way to go. I will explain that when we speak. E-mail me at armartin1@comcast.net and I will get back to you tomorrow and explain how to fit it (as I have done it and understand it) and why it is tomorrow, not tonight. On second thought I think I have your land line number, If you don't mind I may just call you tomorrow late afternoon, early evening, just advise me if that is OK with you....<><....
