Can anyone tell me the difference between a handgun scope and a shotgun scope?  Are shotgun scopes made differently?  Seems they both would use lower magnification and both need ample eye relief?  True differences or just marketing ploys?

I need reccomendations for an H&R 20 ga. slug gun...  <$200 if possible.

Thanks,
mamerch

True differences.

A handgun scope will have a really long eye relief of 12" or more generally speaking. FOV is very small as a result.

A shotgun scope may be exactly the same as a rifle scope but isn't even remotely close to a handgun scope. They will however generally have the parallax corrected at a much shorter distance of 50-100 yards and often are fitted with heavy crosshairs also. Otherwise they are basically same as a rifle scope.

I have the Bushnell Trophy 1.75-5x32 on my H&R 20 ga Ultra Slug Deluxe.  Perfect scope for the gun.  Mike.
