There are better rounds to hunt with.  Now having said that I have killed two deer with a 7tcu that were one shot, one dead deer then.  I will use a 7 tcu or 6mm bullberry this year to hunt.  My shots will be under 150 yards.

I've never used it on hogs but have on several deer. All one shot kills. I have used the 7-30 on hogs and it worked fine but I was only hunting for eating size not trophy size when I chose it. If you're after say 100-125 pound and under hogs and are a good shot I see no reason it shouldn't work fine. I use the Sierra 130 SSSP in both the 7 TCU and 7-30.

7TCU & Hogs

The 7 TCU will work fine on hogs.  I've been loading 120 Nosler BT's, they perform well for me.  I aim right behind the ear, if they step forward or backward a little, you're still in good shape.  I actually hit a 150 pounder right on the point of the shoulder the other day at 75 yards, never took a step.  I try not to hit one there for fear of it blowing up and not penetrating to the goodies, but it worked fine that time.  These same loads work well on deer too.  By the way Graybeard, where can I find the 130 SSSP's???  Thanks.

I buy mine at Midsouth Shooters Supply. I'm sure most any bullet supplier will have them or can get them. Check the Sierra website and make sure you're getting the correct part number for them. They are listed for Single Shot Pistols in the Sierra list.

Ras what do you load your 120BT's with? The book looks like the best velocity comes from a load of 26.0/H322/120BT --out of the loading manual. What do you use?

Jim, I'm not Ras but I found the best combination of accuracy and velocity with 120s to come from AA2520 in all of my 7-30 barrels.

Jim, that's the exact load I use.  I don't have a clue about the velocity, I don't have a chrono???  When I fire-formed, I used 25 grns., the fire-forming loads were quite accurate.  I only had a 4X scope at the time, it shot 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards.  I have put together everything I need to convert it to a carbine, with the exception of a barrel extension.  I plan on letting my daughters use it on a hog or two, and hopefully deer.  I have been unable to find an extension, I plan on having a friend build one for me.  I'll let you all know how it works out.
