While Inline shopping the other day I saw a T/C System 1 on the shelf. I had never heard of it. The guy behind the counter at the time didn't know much about it. It had a .50 and a .54 barrel. He thought that it was about 10 years old and it's priced to closeout at $250. Any comments?

My only comment is that you can get a blued/camo .50cal TC Black Diamond XR for $200 plus $12 shipping, lest you really like the System 1.

I have a stainless System-1 in 54 cal. It is very similar to the black diamond other than the removable barrel. A friend of mine hunts exclusively with a system-1. They tend to be good shooters but are a little bit of a pain to take apart to clean. I believe they were discontinued a few years ago but there are still several on dealers shelves. You can get barrels in 32, 50, 54 and 58 cal as well as 12 ga shotgun. I hardly ever use mine so I can't speak for their long term reliability. I do have concerns with the 2 little allen bolts that hold the barrel in place. If they work loose I would expect poor accuracy and possibly a dangerous situation. If you have a burning desire to have 1 gun with 50 and 54 cal barrels its not a bad buy. If you can live with 1 caliber I'd look into a black diamond or a knight.

Thanks for the info. I opted for a Knight Wolverine in stainless/synthetic. Got a great deal at our local Gander Mountain. I'm anxious to get it to the range and see what it will do.

Good luck with your wolverine. My father has been shooting a stainless wolverine for the last 7-8 years. He has been very pleased with it. Even with his not so young eyes he has been confident enough to harvest deer over 100 yards with it.
