Low Flash .45 load
« on: July 23, 2004, 02:24:02 PM »
Has anyone done research on low flash defense factory ammunition or handloads for .45ACP ?  My gun, a Colt Officer's alloy frame fitted with a stainless Commander barrel/slide assembly, shoots Remington 230 gr Golden Saber and Hornady 230 gr XTP factory ammo well, but I don't have convenient access to a night range to test the relative blast effect.

I haven't done any formal testing on the 45 ACP. However, over many years of frequent shooting and instructing on ranges during low light conditions, I have found factory 45 ACP ammunition to be uniformly very good in this respect. Most ammo produces a minimal muzzle flash in this cartridge.
