What is German Silver??
« on: July 26, 2004, 10:59:24 AM »
Dear Folks,

For years I have read descriptions of firearms, that say that the gun has a German Silver this, or a German Silver that.  What the heck is German Silver anyway?  Is it a silver alloy of some sort?  How does it differ from just plain silver?

Thanks, Big Paulie

german silver or nickle silver has several advantages over coin silver for use on rifles.  The greatest advantage is that it doesn't tarnish as does coin silver.  It's also cheaper..and a bit easier to work than some of the silver alloys.
