Lots of work better off just buying an H&R or NEF.

PA- JOE The reason I'd like to use a 22rf bolt is because you can get them very light, under 4 1/2 pounds. I have an NEF.

Conversion to centerfire is not too bad.  The problem is that most rimfire rifles are not safe at 22 hornet pressures.  This will not be a cheap project as a fair amount of machine time will be needed for the conversion. Yu would be much better of buying a hornet.

The first .22 hornets were converted from .22 rimfire...The springfield .22 rimfire.  The Remington 580 series rifles can be converted, and a cv bolt head is available from the folks that make the 5mm rf magnum to cf. conversion.  The rifle should be able to take hornet pressures.  The Martini actions in .22 rf. make great little hornets, but most .22 rimfire actions are not capable of standing hornet
