Yes I know there are some lever gun rounds in the poll. Since these are available from MR in a revolver, I thought to add them.

.44 Magnum, .357 Magnum, and .22 are my top three. I may try the .45 LC in a Redhawk someday.

I was a 44MAG person. I still have my Redhawk in 44MAG and several other 44MAG barrels. But I am going to use my 500MAG BFR for hunting with a revolver from now on.  :D

I voted for the .41 magnum, but it is my newest, so that might have something to do with it.   :-)   I have hunted small game with a .22 long rifle, deer and hogs with .357 magnum, .41 magnum, and a .44 magnum. I have a .45 Colt that may get a chance this year. I am still in the process of trying them all to see which I like best!

Even though I haven't taken any game with mine yet, I voted for the 45LC.  I bought a pair of Acusport Bisleys earlier this summer and just can't wait for deer season to try one of them out.  Only 3 more months to go :)  !

When I specificly go hunting, it's 44 Mag all the way.  When woods walking or just bumming around, I most often have a .44 spl, but occasionally a .45lc strapped to my hip.  I would not hesitate to take a deer with either if offered a good shot.  44 Man

My new 657 pc gets my next deer.
« Reply #7 on: July 30, 2004, 12:04:52 PM »
I voted for the 41, but have yet to get a deer with it.  I have a 4 inch model 58 blue , a 6 inch model 57 in nickle (it gets used but not for hunting)  and a 8-3/8 inch 657 pc new this summer.

The PC gun is nice on the outside,  I have yet to take it down.  I put a 4x Burris Plex scope on it.  I have been working at a 30 yd indoor range and it will do 1 inch groups  with hot loads.  It should do well out to 100 yards.  This is resting heel of gun on bench.  I will soon be at outdoor 100 yard rang with shooting sticks.  Look out deer season.

Got go choose rom a .41 a .44 and a few .45s but I'll likely be using one of the .45s for the most part.  haven't really decided on aload yet.

I was a 44mag Ruger Redhawk topped with a 2xeer Leoupold , 310gr WFNGC hard cast . I have now went with the 500 Smith PC Hunter topped with a 4x28mm Leoupold ,700gr and 575gr WFNGC hard cast bullets . This will be the first year to bring home the bacon with the smith . Moose season starts in a couple of weeks , hope to use a 700gr slug for one . Still love my 44 mag .

You don't have my favorite one listed.  Its my 445 supermag dan wesson.
It is topped with a burris 2x7 scope and is very accurate.  I am going to load my 445 supermag with barnes x 225 grainers at 1775 fps.  that should be good medicine on them bucks

I voted .44 mag., but it really depends on how I`m hunting and how I feel. I have a .357 max., 15 in. barrel with a scope and by-pod that I use when setting a stand and have been known to carry a .454 from time to time. The reason I voted .44 mag. is that I have an El Dorado arm .44 mag. that is the sweetest revolver I`ve ever seen, and while the .44 mag. is alittle over kill for deer, the .454 is why over kill.

HANDGUN HUNTING
« Reply #26 on: August 20, 2004, 02:50:53 PM »
I have a number of handguns in different cal. 357 MAG, 44 MAG, 45 LC, 45 ACP, 40 S&W, 22LR , 9MM, 454 CAS., 7MM-08 in the Thompson Encore. I love the Encore but if i use a revolver the 454 rules. My Freedom Arm 454 is one of the most accurate handguns money can buy.
I think you should use what you can shoot the best.

4& 3/4 in 45lc for me. the old ctg has been getting the job done for way over 100 years now, figger it will continue doing the job as long as I live.

The gun is a Uberti New Dakota that I use for Cowboy Action Shooting loaded with 250grn JHP's at 950fps.  I bought 8lbs of HS6 powder a few years ago and am still using it.

From the blind I hunt from to cover is not over 75yds and if the deer are out of the cover area, they are fair game to me.
