home defense shotgun ???

I'm looking for a 20 inch pump shotgun for the house, but i would prefer not to have a trigger disconect on it.  Does anybody make a pump of this type anymore or can one be modified?

The Winchester M1897 (external hammer) and the Ithaca 37 (hammerless) shotguns were made without trigger disconnectors.  The gun will continue to fire as you cycle the pump handle and hold down the trigger.

No current manufacturer makes disconnectorless shotguns because of the safety liability concerns.

As far as modifying one to fire without a trigger disconnector, I don't know if any gunsmith would do that, again for liability reasons.

If you are looking for a pump model without a disconnect, so that you might able to just hold the trigger down and continually pump and fire the shotgun (like the famous scene of Charles Bronson in Death Hunt), you may want to think again.   If you try to fire a pump shotgun in this manner, you are much more likely to "short-stroke" it, and jam your weapon.  Result: Your weapon is out of commission and you may be shot dead.

Just my opinion.

Wise words Big Paulie, if someone needs to shoot that fast they need an automatic.

A short barrel S/S is still the worlds best fight stopper, it usually stops a fight before it even starts. And it swings well in hallways and such. Another benifit is that in our modern lawyer run society it is better to shoot an intruder with a bird gun than a dedicated defence weapon. The S.O.B. might not die, and then he will probably sue you. You won't look like a such a " trigger happy gun nut" to the jury.
