Ken,

I rest all of mine on the forearm screw.

I tried resting on the barrel hinge pin, but I feel the unsupported weight contributes to having the barrel pop open after shooting, with the brass hitting somewhere on the forehead.  :rain:

Ken, when you're shooting from the bench, you are trying to squeeze every bit of accuracy out of your loads that you can get.  Resting the rifle as close to the hinge as you can, resting your cheek in the same place for every shot, putting the same pressure on the stock with your cheek, trigger squeeze and follow through, breathing etc are ways of getting the most accuracy out of your Handi from the bench.

When you are hunting, you aren't shooting groups for accuracy.  You're trying to hit the vital area on the game you're hunting which may be anywhere from eight inches to fifteen inches in diameter depending on your game.  So just hold the rifle however is most comfortable to you.
You haven't hunted......Until you've hunted the hunters

FWIW, I plan on shooting my .223 and .243 from a bipod for varmints, so that's how I shoot mine on the bench. The only way I know what kind of accuracy to expect when in the field is to shoot it that way when on the range.
