8)  Yes. If you mean a Ruger Single Action New Model, the simplest way is to bore a 1/16 hole into the hammer right above the sear and locktight a short pin in the hole. You can file off the pin to increase engagement..Some folks use low temp solder and put a shim above the sear, but the heat may change temper on the hammer.  If you want to get gunsmithy, then you will need to cut away material from the hammer to decrease it using a #2 Norton stone or a diamond stone. This work is best done by a qualified Gunsmith. All the Ruger SA I now own have had the work done by a Pro..   cbagman

The only way to take out the travel is to remove the travel surface which is the sear engagement on the hammer.  I use files, stones, and dremel tool.  Sometimes a gun will be take appart 3-4 times to get it where I want it.  Taking off too much costs time and money ordering new parts to do it over.

Good luck,

Steve :D

Thanks for the info.
Got a new SBHH that has a little bit too much travel and needs to be
worked on. But then again most Rugers have too much traval.

If you jerk the trigger and flinch really bad like I do then the overtravel and creep isn't all that noticeable.  :)

I save a lot of gunsmithing money like this.

Hey 45LC man I have improved on your style of shooting , Just turn you head and close your eyes real tight and this will decrease how often you flinch .
