Birchwood casey brass cleaner

Anyone try this stuff ? Is it any good, any offensive odor, any cautions when handling? I guess i'm just fishing for some input on the stuff... good, bad, or indifferent. thanks

Yeah, I've tried the BC case cleaner on several occasions.

It seems to be some kind of mild organic acid cleaner and DOES clean and brighten the brass on first and second use, but loses its effectiveness quickly.  

I could not identify it from it's mild odor (that's why I think it's an organic acid), but neither is it harsh on hands or skin.  No special handling precautions except eye splash protection.

I don't think it's cost effective for only one or two uses though.

So I guess your saying It's not good for the projected 8000 cleanings!! :eek: Not a replacement for a tumbler I guess hugh? :wink: Thanks.

I used to us a misture of Cream of tartar to brighten the really grungy stuff but haven't in many years.  Just freshen the polish load in the vibrator and let it run longer..
