marlin 7000......22lr rifle
« on: July 29, 2004, 11:44:32 PM »
i have this gun it is excellent shooter at 50 yards. i was wondering if any1 else loves theres. also i out shot a 10/22 ruger decked out. it was a close battle but the very less expencive marlin came through.. i have a simmons blazer 4*16*40 ao scope on it and i wouldnt get rid of it for nothing. this is the best marlin ive ever shot, and ive shot plenty of them.the only thing ive beat it with was with my cz 452 ,and i beleive it was because of the lighter trigger in the cz..whats r your guys opions on this little jewel?

I am ordering a Marlin 7000 hopefully this week. I've never shot one but
I've talked to people who have, and I have never heard a complaint. I've shot lots of 10/22's and don't really like them.  From what I've heard
the Marlin is one of the most accurate out of the box semi rimfires.  How
awkward is the length of the 10 shot clip, it seems to stick out a long way - any problems with it? I can't wait to until the 700 arives....

no. the rifle is so short that the clip never has give me any problems. i bought 4 extra ones to play around with on the plinking targets. this is my most favorite rifle ive ever had! u want be sorry with the accuracy, plus if u dont really like the trigger pull, your guynsmith can lighten it , but mine is fine. i would sight it in at 50 yards.happy shooting!

I keep saying that the 7000 is a sleeper in the .22 semi auto category. I have one and lots of people won't believe me, but it will shoot right along with my Kimber Hunter, and CZ Varmint. It is one fun gun to shoot and is balanced very well for off hand shooting. I wouldn't take a truck load of 10/22 for it. I've redone the trigger in mine and now it's sweeeet!

I have a 7000...and it is accuuurrraattee.....uh huh!

Although I believe my 880SQ will edge it out, it depends upon the day..sometimes you get the bear...sometimes the bear gets you!

Shoots right along side my CZ 452 also..

NO, none...zip.. feeding problems yet after several hundred rounds.

With the match or semi-match chamber, I don't shoot any Stingers or Qiuk-shocks (long shell casings) thru it...

I was reading up on some of these old threads and thought I'd add a post script to this one.
I've already posted about how much I love my 7000, so here goes.
I'm an inveterate trader, and this past week I ended up in a trade that netted me, among other things a custome 10/22. It had the most fantastic trigger on it I've seen on one yet, I ought to know I built the trigger group out of parts several years ago for the guy. He installed a Fajen stock, Midway/Green Mountain barrel, custome barrel clamp, and after I got it I smoothed up the bolt and polished the action throughout. It is one smooooth rifle. After all this work, and I would guess, $500 in extras he's put in the gun, I thought a shoot off between it and my 7000 was in order. Since the weather here has broken it's warm enough for a go. I shot both off of a makeshift rest, using a TV tray in my back yard at 40 yards. After settling on the 10/22s favorite ammo, I decided to use whatever it liked in the Marlin to give the 10/22 the edge. Well when all the shooting was done, the Ruger shot pretty good, and the Marlin shot only 1/4" larger groups. Now for the rest of the story. The Ruger was using a known good 6-24X Japan Tasco and the Marlin was using a Bushnell 30mm red dot!!! Needless to say, the Ruger has already been sold, I didn't trade for it to keep, just happened to get it. I kind of knew of a fellow who wanted it, and he got it.
The 7000 is one heck of a rifle, at any cost. So far it's either stayed with or beaten out a Rem 504, a Kimber Hunter and this Ruger, all of which cost in the neighborhood of $700, against a $152 Marlin.

Bchannell;
Know what you mean...since Christmas my 7000 is in the hands of my youngest grandson (17 yrs)...
I don't like passing on any rifle that is not a known "shooter".

Shucks; now I have that terrible task of having to fill an empty space in my .22 rack....LOL
