Marvellux is a bit different to use when Casting
« on: July 31, 2004, 06:23:43 AM »
I know this is the Cowboy forum but some of us cast our own buttles.  I decided to try some of Brownells' Marvelux as I had used up all my old soft lube and most of my wife's high dollar tapers (they aren't called candles at their prices!)
Marvelux does fine, if fact does what it claims to do.  But, and I do mean BUT, believe it when they saw it attracts water.  I "forgot" this when I went to cast again and the spoon that I was using before had a lot of trapped water that went to steam in a heartbeat.  No one was hurt (me) but it was another in a long line of wake ups for me

I have lead burn scars on my arms, hands, chest and face from using Marvalux. Same exact thing as you did. I strongly suggest you lose the stuff and buy some cheap beeswax before you have scars like I do. Or you might lose an eye. Is it really worth the chance?

CR,
After reading all about your many experiences casting bullets (or buttles, whatever...), have you thought about taking up a safer hobby?

Like maybe dodging cars on the Southwest Freeway???? :-D

(P.S., glad you're ok!)

Bullet molding, melting lead is, at best, very dangerous. Be safe out there and don't do it less you are real sure of the outcome. Spearimentin is best left to those that have no fear of injury, or, if'n ya will, no brains.
