New to this site

- Any of you use peep sights for hunting. Any recommendations? Shoot a Black Diamond.

Welcome to GBO! :grin: I have 2 black diamonds, a Super XR .45 and an XR .50...both have Williams receiver peep sights. You can get the sights direct from Williams. Sight WGRS-BLACK DIAMOND is the one you want. I shoot mine when hunting without the aperature, just use the aperature holder as a ghost ring.

Although I do not have any peep sights on my muzzleloader, I would like to try one on my Lever action 45-70. I hope you get the answers you are looking for here.

Here is the peep that I use on my Encore:

I tried the Williams peep sight but it did not give me enough elevation adjustment. Also, this one mounts on top of a Weaver base. The Williams peep fits into the scope mount holes. Using this setup enables me to use a scope with quick release rings and go from a scoped setup to the peep sight without having to use a wrench to remove any sights, bases, etc.

This sight is available at Cabelas for $79.95 and is a much higher quality sight than the Williams IMHO.

I've got the aperture sold by Thompson on my Thunderhawk. Even though the sight works OK , it hangs over the receiver. If I had to do over again, I would go with the Williams WGRS sight.

Another vote for the Williams... I use the standard size aperture hole, but I've switched to the twlight model. It has a ring of brass around the hole and I've found it really reduces eye strain in low light or when I'm aiming alot at the range.
