From the Volquartsen web site.

17 HM2 (Mach 2)  - We have started our testing on this exciting new cartridge and have been very impressed with the early results.  We are still on schedule to have a complete line of accessories and rifles available for the Mach 2 in time for the ammo's release later this summer.  Our testing in addition to the testing being done by the ammunition companies have shown that a modified bolt will be required to convert the Ruger 10/22 to Mach 2 (see below).  We will be offering a modified version of our CNC machined bolt along with a match grade barrel to make this conversion extremely simple.  We will also be offering our full line of semi-auto rifles in the Mach 2 as well.

We have started to update our website showing the products available in the Mach 2.  We will be adding products as they become available so be sure to check back.

Please read the following safety notice published by CCI regarding the new Mach 2 ammo and the use of the ammo in a conventional 22lr.

"Important Safety Notice On The New
.17 Cal Mach 2"

This exciting new rimfire cartridge will undoubtedly inspire consumers to want to modify some of their existing .22 caliber rimfire semi-automatic rifles to accommodate it.  To achieve the performance level that this cartridge offers and consumers have demanded, special blends of powders were used which cause semi-automatic firearms to cycle faster than with existing .22 caliber rimfire ammunition. This difference requires special bolt designs to maintain a safe shooting condition. Reputable firearms manufacturers that follow specifications set forth by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute have designed their Mach 2 firearms with special care being given to this requirement.

Consumers desiring to modify existing semi-automatic firearms with after-market components are strongly cautioned that modification must be made to the bolts as well as the barrel. Modifications should only be made by competent gunsmiths properly trained in the modifications required.

In response to this, the following warning appears on each box of ammunition supplied by CCI:

'WARNING; To avoid serious injury use this ammunition only in firearms that have a barrel/chamber with standard SAAMI sporting dimensions for this Mach 2 .17 caliber cartridge AND a bolt specifically designed for this Mach 2 .17 caliber cartridge."""
