HAS ANYONE USED 44 MAG. GOLD DOT AMMO ON ANY THING .I WANT TO TRY THE 240'S OUT OF MY S/S SUPER BLACK HAWK WITH 4 5/8 BARR.  ON WHITETAIL THIS YEAR.ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL.THANKS :-)

I did some wet phonebood testing with the 270gr gold dots a few years ago with a 5.5 inch SBH.  I ran out of phonebooks before I got one to stay in the books, for recovery.  We got up to 30 inches of wet phonebooks and at 1300fps mv, it seemed to never even slow down.  There was a funnel shaped wound channel and about a 3 inch exit hole.  Never recoveded a bullet.

I've seen the 200 grain GDHPs used on whitetails in eastern NC.
They dropped where they stood; bullet passed right on through.

In my experience: an extremely accurate bullet when loaded moderately.

friend of mine shot a deer about 50  yards in the neck with the 270s factory rounds  an it went right though it never opened up an barly left a blood trail 4 hours never found the deer, i would use it for biger things elk or bear but nothen under 300 lbs or use it for a shoulder buster

I,ve loaded and shot the Gold Dots. They are plenty accurate but I only use Rem. hollow points or Hornady JHP-XTP for white tail. Out to 87 yards ( longest shot) I've had to do no tracking on the deer Iv'e shot with my model 29. I agree that the gold dot is better for larger animals.
