Best let George Bush know how you feel.
Mr. Bush in the 2000 presidential campaign said he supported the ban and would sign an extension if it got to his desk.
8/11/04: President Bush USA Today.
How, if at all, should federal gun laws be changed?
Bush: Mandatory background checks through the instant check system are essential for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and other prohibited persons. We have improved the rate of immediate decisions for background checks from 71 percent to 91 percent, and with my administration's support, Congress recently required that records for approved gun transactions through the instant check system be destroyed within 24 hours. I support reauthorizing the current ban on semi-automatic assault weapons. We are providing funding for child safety locks for handgun owners through the Justice Department's Project ChildSafe program. Finally, we support legislation that would prohibit firearms manufacturers or sellers from being held liable for the criminal or unlawful misuse of their product by others. This legislation would help curb frivolous litigation."
If it gets to his desk he
WILL sign it. Lawdog
