My Uncle and I were out fishing yesterday. The place we go has a fairly large cow pasture out near the back. While fishing my uncle spots a bird in the field and asks me what it is. At first (due to the distance I thought it was much smaller,) I thought it might be a Pheasant. My Uncle asked if it was a Turkey. Just as I was about to answer I see the bird turn broadside in my Binoculars.....yup Turkey all right. It was a female (though I saw no yung'uns with her.) Just for the hell of it I began going "Rrrrer rr rr rr rr rr" with my own voice. I did not expect much, but all of a sudden that bird stopped in mid walk, looked our direction (here we are a good 150 to 200 yards away,) and begins putting and chirping away for us. It got me smiling and I kept doing it. I asked my Uncle if he heard her (he does not hunt,) and said "is it that funny Rrr sound?" So we sat and watched for about 15 minutes as she lounged around feeding and shouting off little putts here and there. I just couldnt believe it when she responded to my vocalizations!
