Anything on the .25 WSM yet?

Okay guys, this round has been out for a while now. Does anybody have any practical experience and comments regarding the round?  I am particulary interested in knowing whether it will have significantly less sound (muzzle blast) than the 25-06, and whether there is significantly less recoil.

First question is do you mean 25 wssm or 25 wsm? 25 wsm is a wildcat only. I have built a 25 wsm on a savage model 16. It kicks my 25-06 by aboout 300 fps both from 24" barrels. Mine will kick 117 hornady btsp at 3300 fps with .6 in groups. RL 25 and Ramshot Magnum have worked best.
Speed doesn't come cheap, it does kick more than my 25-06.

With speeds like that surely barrel life is going to be an issue?
How does that compre to a .257 Wby Mag?
Further more, what are you shooting with it?

To clarify my experience with .25s, my main rifle is Short Lee Enfield chambered for .303/25 (an Aussie wildcat......303 Brit necked down to .25) and it sits between a 250 Savage & a .257 Roberts in performance terms.

Not really!!  I have a .257 Weatherby that has well over 1,700 rounds thru it and it's as accuracte now as the day I got it(sub MOA).  Speed alone does not burn up barrels.  You can burn up a .30-30 by using max. powder charges all the time.  Lawdog

Dear Guys,

Sorry,   I mean't the new 25 WSSM.  It was introduced with a fair amount of hoopla (and it may be a good alternative to the 25-06 if it has significantly less recoil and muzzle blast), but other than one or two gun mag articles, I have heard nothing further on it.  I was hoping that the 25 WSSM would be to the .25-06 what the .308 Winchester is to the .30-06.
