Seeking info on Maryland gun laws
« on: August 05, 2004, 04:20:18 PM »
I am looking for info on Maryland gun laws, and would like something in plain English.  What I am specifically looking for is if I can order a black powder gun online and have it shipped to me in Maryland.  I know traditional black powder rifles and pistols can be purchased without any background check in MD, so I was wondering if I can also purchase one from Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops online.  I can not find anything that says this specifically for black powder guns.  Thanks for any help.

I don't think you are going to find a definitive "Yeah, it's okay" the best you are going to find I think is a statement that it is an antique and therefore not covered by state law such as:

Quote
ANTIQUES

An antique firearm, defined as one manufactured on or before 1898, or any replica thereof which is not designed for firing fixed ammunition or which uses fixed ammunition no longer manufactured in the United States and no longer readily available commercially, is exempted from state law.

the Encore is a handgun sold by thompson/ center arms.
It is a single shot break action type. it is able to switch out barrels in only a few minutes with only a screwdriver. You can get barrels from the 22 L.R. up to 458 marlin. it is very easy to make this into a rifle/shotgun just by adding on a shoulder stock and a rifle/ shotgun barrel. They even have a 209x50 and 209x45 barrels in handgun and rifle lengths
