Kewl!
I've been thinking of getting a .31 cap and ball. I have one but it's a piece of early 1970s Italian junk that can't keep five shots on a 4X8 sheet of plywood (the bore is incredibly rough, doubt it was ever polished).
I've noticed that apparently no one is making the Colt 1849 copy with the longer, 5-1/2 inch (I think that's the length) barrel. At least not with loading lever. The 4" Colt with loading lever abounds.
Lately I've been wondering about these Remingtons. I saw in a recent catalog (Cabela's? Sportsman's Guide? GatMart?) that the Remington is now offered in a steel frame.
Wonder if a guy could get a steel-framed Remington in nickel plating?
Of course, the little .31 generates probably generates such little pressure that its brass frame is probably ample. In the larger .36 and .44 revolvers, with their greater recoil, brass frames tend to become stretched or wear out. I doubt that would happen with the .31 but I'm just guessing here.
Anyone know of brass-framed .31s wearing out or the frame stretching?
Who made your little Remington .31? It sure is a beauty. How's the quality of workmanship?
Let us know how the little beast shoots.
