I just bought one of these kits to try. I am going to try it on my 7600 in 257 Roberts. For $10.00, what the heck, its' worth a try. I'll keep you posted.

I got my trigger kit installed and replaced in my 7600 today. The verdict is, yes!! I don't have the before trigger pull, but after it was installed, it surprised myself and the gunsmith that I go to. The trigger now breaks at 2 lbs. and 12 ounces. Not to shabby for a Remingotn pump I would say. After I got home, I "dry fired" it, and there is a considerable difference. If you get this kit, it only comes with one spring to change, but the price you pay is worth it.

I just bought this kit off ebay for my 7600, is it easy to install? What tools are required? I am not 1 to tear my guns apart.

When you take the trigger assembly out, pay close attention to how everything fits in place. This is where I made a mistake on mine; I yanked and didn't look. After that, the spring is easy to put in and it does make a big difference. The gunsmith that checked the trigger pull for me was very surprised to see how much lighter the trigger pull was.

257 Robt - Do you think 2+ pounds is still safe? I'd like to reduce the trigger pull on my 7600 (I started the topic!), but safety is important as well...

A trigger that breaks at 2lbs 12oz doesn't bother me. Yes it is a little on the light side, but with a Remington trigger there is not much you can do.

Is this a safe way to lighten a trigger pull?  Is there an increased risk of accidental discharge?  Sounds too good to be true but I hope it is.

I have done this on several rifles and have been very pleased. It is worth the money to try it.

I own, or have owned, several 760 or 7600 rifles and I've never felt a need to adjust the trigger.  Sure, it is not as good as the trigger on a high-quality bolt action, but it is good enough for hunting and safe enough for the rough handling that hunting rifles sometimes inadvertently receive.  These rifles often produce accuracy that is on-par with out-of-the-box bolt action rifles.

Well, I just got my "kit" this week (one spring) so I'll see how it turns out. Doing some other "customizing" on the 7600 right now as well so I won't get to it for a while...

Mu understanding from the boys at Wild West Guns in Anchorage, Alaska, which is the only authorized Remington servicer in Alaska, is that there is just not much that can be done to a 7600 trigger, a little, but not much, so don't get your hopes up.  Their opinions are to be taken not as dogma, but certainly as something pretty close to that.  They're the best.

yea....same response from the smith here.......he helped the trigger some on my 7400, but it's still not the way I'd like it.......

You’ve never pulled the trigger on Larry Benoit’s 760 have you? Larry told me that when he made the agreement with Remington to make a limited run of 7600’s with his name on it, the brass at Remington wanted to know his secrets on what he did to their triggers; something that Larry never divulged. I can say from experience that it is light and crisp!

Now, I’m not saying this spring kit will fix the 760/7600 triggers, but I’m hoping it will help some!

I"ve seen a few post about a spring kit.......257 Roberts bought one I believe........Please let me know how it works for you......the price is right, but for some reason I've never bothered to buy one........maybe because the other guns I"ve got shoot a little better........

I was doing my usual surfing (I'm also addicted to AR rifles) on a website that upgrads mini-14's and AR rifles and low and behold, Rem. 7400's as well.  What I found interesting was the 3.5 lb, 2 stage trigger in the list of stuff they do to the rifle.  Here's the link

Anyway, it lists two triggers, a 2.5 lb enhancment and a 3.5 lb 2 stage, and as you scroll down to the bottom of the page, it describes a 3.5 lb match trigger with overall adjustment.  Thought I would pass it on.

I have 7600 in 35 whelen with a 26-28oz trigger, just a hint of movement before bang. It's the lightest 7600 I have ever seen. I told the gunsmith to
tweaker down and thats what I got. Been safe for 10 years.....But, you have to be real careful with light triggers and heavy gloves.
