I'm wondering what your favorite Remington deer rifle is? As you might have read in a previous post, mine is a Remington 700 ADL Synthetic. It's chambered for .243...the all-around cartridge (at least I think so ne way  8) )

Model 7600 (soon to be Carbine) in .280 with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5 - 5X which I sent back to the factory to have the heavy reticles installed similar to their shotgun scopes. The factory must have liked my idea because shortly after they offered the scope in a "dangerous game" model.

Out of the ones I currently own, my Remington 700 BDL 30'06. I have my eyes on the new 700 CDL in 7mm08. I think the 700 Mountain Rifle in .260 will come first though.???

I would absolutely LOVE to get a 700 CDL in .270. A friend of mine has a Winchester M70 Featherweight in .270 and it's a beautiful gun and a hard-hitter. So, I think that's Remington's version of the M70.

My favorite (most commonly used) rifle is my Model Seven in 7mm-08!
It's light, handy, quick handling and accurate!

But, I can't turn my back on my old model,  Model 700 BDL in 7mm Rem Mag!

Hello

I havn't used it yet but my new Mountain rifle in 30/06 will be doing all my huniting this fall.  I have black bear, mule deer, whitetail, and elk seasons in my area.  Up until this year it was my Model 700 classic in 7mm-08 or my ADL in 30/06.

JP,
Thats a hard question because most of my hunting rifles are Remingtons.
I like my 280 Rem. for deer and elk.
I like 6mm Rem for antelope and varmints.
I guess i like guns as i have a safe full.

*Drools intensley* Congrats on your new 673. Tell me....does it carry on the legacy of the other Remington rifles (Model 7 and 700 Series)? Are you satisified with it? I guess you didn't like the .350 chambering. Any reason why?

Hi JP,....

YES,...... I'm more than happy with it !! :toast:

This baby is gonna be another tack driver :agree: and considering that I had won it in a raffle this spring from the folks at MURGO during the Outdoorama,... it makes it even SWEETER!!!

I picked this rifle from about 100 other choices they gave me (both rifles & handguns) and decided on the 300 SAUM round instead of the .350 due to the limitations of that caliber for hand loading.

I just sighted it in a few days ago and I was very delighted with the results from the factory ammo (Remington 165gr. core-lokts) nice tight groupings. I could have covered the 4 shot groups easiley with a quarter from 100 yds.

I've mounted a Springfield Armory 6x40 scope to it on Leupold rings and bases,... along with a Harris Bi-Pod

I KNOW that I can tighten them up with handloads,... I'm developing a few already to try out and chrony them.

Sure is a pretty thing! :agree: I personally think you made a GREAT choice

How do you like the SAUM? How is the recoil compared to the old 7mag?
How do you like the Springfield scope? I have heard great things about them, but never used one myself.

Well, well, well....a very handsome rifle indeed. I hope it kills a state record for ya! Looks beautiful. I might have to buy one. How's the recoil? And I guess accuracy is good

The recoil on this Remington 673 is hardly noticable,... much less than a .30-06 and a little more than my 30-30 Winchester.

Out of the box accuracy is GREAT,.... Here's a picture of the initial sight in @ 100 yds. Ammo used was Factory Remington Cor-locks 165 gr.

The first group was to the left,... I over adjusted to the right and then backed off 1/2 the amount from the 1st adjustment for the center group.

My hand loads should tighten this group dramatically!!

I guess I'm gonna have to reconsider my next big game rifle. I was looking at a Remington Model 700 CDL in .270. But now I might have to revamp that option.

JP,... this is right out of the box accuracy!!

My only additions were the Springfield Armory Scope and the Harris Bi-Pod.  I was shooting those shots from the prone position using the bi-pod.

Since we can't use rifles in the areas I hunt in Delaware and Maryland I'd have to say my 870 with a rifled hastings barrel and a cheap simmons 4x32 scope on the cantilevered mount. Got a smoothbore slug barrel with rifle sights as well that doesn't see much action any more.

722 in .257 Roberts scoped with a 3.5-10 Vari-X III.  115 grain TBBC's can handle any deer that comes by.  The 75 grain Hornady V-Max takes care of the varmints.

Most all of my rifles are Remingtons, but my favorite deer gun is a Model 700 mtn. rifle LSS in 7mm/08. I can carry it all day and I have all the confidance in the world out to 300 yds. My second favorite is my 25-06 Sendero.

If i'm carrying a rifle that says Remington on it and headed deer hunting, then it "has" to be my 700 Rem left hand action, Douglas bbl., and stocked in a nice piece of New Zeland walnut.  This rifle is chambered for 7 Express Rem. (280 Rem) and i handload Speer 145 grain flat base bullets in it for this size animial.

It's built to be a light weight rifle, and shoots very good!  I built it to drag all over the tundra and mountains of Alaska, and i've also used it in the lower 48.

I've taken Sitka blk tailed deer, White tail deer, blk. bear, and even caribou with it.   Even though i haven't shot it a lot lately, it's always ready for action!

This 25-06 Remington Sendero is one of the first run Remington made up. I nearly drove me crazy until I found out how sensitive the H&S Precision stocks are to bedding screw torque pressures. It was shooting 1.5 to 2" groups until I discovered the front bedding screw was set at 12 inch/lbs and the rear screw was set at 20 inch/lbs from the factory. I removed the barrel/action from the stock, cleaned off the bedding block, waxed the recoil lug and put a little Accuglass in the recoil lug cutout in the stock. Then I set the bedding screws to 65 inch/lbs and let it dry. When I cleaned everything up and reassembled the rifle it was shooting .25 MOA groups. I still have this target of a 10 shot group at 100 yards. The group barely visible under the tape was the last group fired before bedding screw adjustment, two inches at 100 yards.

The next before morning before the air began to heat up and no wind I fired four shots at 500 yards that cut a group that measured 1.5"
Since then I have killed deer from 25 yards to 385 yards with one shot kills. The excellent Hornady 117 grain SPBT kills like the Hammer of Thor.
As a matter of fact that is what a somewhat poetic friend of mine calls this rifle.

Mjollnir (Thor's Hammer)
...for him there was always the discipline of steel.

They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.
