cabela's outfitter bows
« on: August 14, 2004, 10:25:21 AM »
I have been considering a new bow purchase for a few months now and seemed really interested in Cabela's Outfitter series. I recently had a chance to shoot both models at the new Cabelas in Wheeling, WV, since I am within 15 minutes drive of it.The thing shot wonderful, but  I am concerned about the quality and in-woods performace of this bow.  Any insight would be greatly appriciated.

I do believe it is made by archery research

I can't speak to the quality of these bow because I've never shot or held one.  They look nice in the catalog. :P

In looking at the specs on them, I would not choose one for myself.  Both PL series bows have fairly short brace heights.  For a hunting bow, I would be looking at something with a brace height closer to 8".  I am assuming that you are shooting with a release so axle to axle is not an issue.

Just my two cents.

I agree with Dalton...As usuall..LOL..

You definatly want the brace heighth for the forgiveness...we all know we get a lil shakey when that monster walks out in our range so you want that forgiveness...They do look pretty in pictures But I personally wouldnt want one in the woods...My suggestion...Get a Hoyt..lol

I suggest you try several brands before you decide on the Cabela's Outfitter series. A good pro shop is a good place to start. I ended up with a Matthews and just love it. JMHO.
