Hi my wife and little boy was riding the 4 wheeler last Sunday in the pines where thet had been loged 2 yrs ago and she drove by a old tree top and a hen flew out and she looked and the hen had a nest with 11 eggs isnt she runing a little late on nesting some thing must got her first nest but dont look like she would be nesting this time of yr turkey season opens OCT 1 i hope some of her eggs hatch VM

Some times they will vary as much as thirty days. You can see them after they come off the nest and some of them will be about half grown and then come along some little runts about half the size of the other bunch.
I think it has to do with the amount of hens to gobbler ratio. Some of the hens don't get covered untill later because of the toms fighting with each other. Just my thoughts..........Joe.........

Hi we didnt hurt the toms to bad this spring there was alot of toms left but i called in alot of hens more than i ever had VM :D

She must have been a "late bloomer"  :-D  :-D  I really don't kno much about turkey breeding, but I've read that sometimes the eggs come out as fast as 2 weeks after initial breeding (or even faster).
