what will fly better plastic or feathers in my crossbow? what do you fellas use. clue me in k

There are many pro's and cons to both, Plastic is quieter in flight but less forgiving on the recovery, Feathers need to be treated regularly for water proofing, When Plastic gets a lil wrinkled it makes your flight a lil funky.
Now all that being said...You are shooting a cross bow so most likely the noise factor nor the forgiveness will be a problem..The rails on the crossbow do tend to be a little harsh on feathers so I personally would go with the plastic

I have to agree with cam69conv. Your fletching rides in the rail, and if you shoot feathers you are just going to damage a lot of feathers. I also would stick with the plastic fletchings. That is what I used when I was shooting my Horton crossbow. :-)

Also Straight fletching if you use feathers is recomended over Helical. It was not a issue with me when I switched over to a Crossbow as I have always shot straight fletching either feather or vanes. So even when I made my own bolts and borrowed a fletching tool before I just got mine I used straight fletching. Jim

thanks guys. needed the input. just started to use a crossbow am disabled now .I know next to nothing about them so trying to pickup some pointers.have shot deer with recurve even got one. I will take all the info i can get. by the way[ son] he he hardley im 64yrs young. thanks.

One more tip I make my own bolts out of arrows I have bought off of the clearance racks after the bow season has started or mostly over at Walmart, Kmart ect you have to keep a eye on the store to see when the clearance sale starts or I buy them at garage sales. Bolts cost five bucks where I live I can cut down arrows the best way is leave the front insert and cut back towards the fletching. A tube cutter works great for this! Then I refletch and put a nock on the end and I am done. I insert a regular knock in the arrow (Bolt) first but do not glue it in but tape it in place so the fletching tool will grab the nock and turn the arrow. After it is fletched I remove the nock and glue in a crossbow nock. Total price on most bolts I do this way average around a buck and a half. A lot better than paying 5 and they fly just as good as the factory ones do for a lot cheaper.
