I have just found a good source for powder (horsetrader customer of mine). All I can get is Accurate powders.

I load for 45 acp and 44 magnum in pistol.

I also load for 223 rem, 25-06, in 15 inch Encore.

And 25-06, 243 and 300 weatherby in rifles.

Does anybody have experience wiht accurate powders in any of the above?

Any experience with Accurate powder in general?

I use AA#9 with a 200gr XTP in my 44 mag. It is very accurate in my gun. I have also used #7 in the same gun. Lower velocities but just as accurate. I use 3100 in my 270 Win. with a 130 gr. BT get over 3000 fps and under 1" groups. It might work well in the 25-06. I have used 2115 BR in a 308 Win with under 1" groups and also in a 7-30 waters in a friends contender Good Velocity But he was just starting with a contender so I cant comment on group size. If it sounds like I like their powder You are right.

i shot a whole bunch of 3100 through a 25 06 and a bunch of #9 in various magnum pistols , all with good results. can't say anything bad about it.

I would use the #9 for 44 mag with 240 Grain swc in lead and also with 240 jacket hollow cavity for hunting. I currently load H-110 and Unique.

My horse trading will get me 8 lbs of the stuff and I need to know if it will work.

Same for the 45 acp if I get 8 lbs. of #5 or #2 will it do for this load I currently use unique and red dot. I load 200 grain swc in lead.

Any help is appreciated.

What are the main differences between Red Dot and Accurate? I use Accurate but a friend swears by Red Dot.

My dealer just had a "sale" on Accurate powder, $15 a pound, so I got 10 pounds of it. Saved enough so I could buy Accurate #2 Loading Manual.

I've used AA2520 and AA2700 for quite a while in medium bore (.30 - .35) rifles and really like it. It pretty much does what Accurate says it'll do, they don't seem to publish "optomistic" loads like some others do.

I haven't used any of their pistol powder yet, but I bought some #7 and some #9, so I guess I'll see.

I hear Hodgdon has discontinued their H870, so Accurate's 8700 might fill that need for some.

I assume you are comparing AA#2 to Red Dot. Well, they are virtually the same burning rate. #2 is a ball powder and Red Dot is a flake powder. I use both. Red Dot is much bulkier that #2. So if one was reloading a particular case with say 5 grains of either powder, the Red Dot would fill the case more. Sometimes this matters, sometimes it doesn’t! I like ‘em both…BCB

I've used 3100 in the past and currently use XMR4350 in my 25/06. Both powders work well. Haven't tried their pistol powders.

Thanks for this reply, my hunting loads are most critical in my 25-06. I will also be working up loads for a 300 weatherby for moose for next season in ontario. You can burn a lot of powder working up a load for a 300 weatherby fire forming cases etc.

From your list, my only experience is in .223. I'm just starting my fourth 8-pounder of AA2520, much of which has been burned in heavy bullet .223 loads. It works REALLY well in .308 too. Their AA4064 is even better (in .308).

Natchez often runs specials of Accurate powders and if you know what you want and buy a ton, you can save some $$.

I use AA#9 for 44 mag loads with 240 and 250 gr bullets. It works great. Firm crimp is a must. AA#9 likes heavy bullets better from my experience. I use 18.5 grains with a Hornady XTP/HP 240 gr bullet and get about 1350 fps with a 7 or 8 inch barrel. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I will be hunting with 240 grain jacket hollow cavity and target plinking with 240 grain swc in lead. My gun is a 7-1/2 inch Super Redhawk. Yours is a great comparison.

I will likely make a horsetrade for 8 lbs of #9.

Now I need to decide for the 45 acp.

Your experience with #9 and 240gr is interesting to me because I had thought the opposite. I have only tried two bullets, the 200 gr Hornady XTP and the 240 gr. Nosler, and my gun did not do well with the 240. Maybe my gun just does not like that bullet period. Looks like something that needs checking up on.
