On  an earlier thread . it was discussed that a .410 primer can be used and it is less hot than a 209 . will this work in a knight disc? I an getting fliers with my gun and  am fishing for ways to fix this problem

I think you should give them a try. It will only cost a couple of dollars to find out if it works.  :D

Would the .410 primer work in place of the 209 in the Encore?

The 410 primer is a Remington 209-4.  It is the same size as regular 209 but with less "fire" - because the 410 shotgun shell has so much less powder to ignite in it than other guages.

I can't find anyone in the Phoenix Arizona area that has ever heard of the 410 primer. One guy said he thinks they used to make one but they cancelled it a long time ago. Where do you guys find them??? Someone mentioned Wallmart and I tried them and got same answer. Never heard of it.

Keith Lewis,

They are Remington 209-4's.

I do actually get mine at the local Wal-Mart, they have to order them for me and I buy a brick at a time somewhere around $22-23...

If they can't get them for you, you might have to find a store that caters to reloading especially - shotgun reloading.

I have not tried to find them on-line because of the cost to ship...

Let me know if you have any luck...

I was told by the local Wal-Mart guy that it is not in his book even though they carry a lot of stuff and a fair amount of black powder rifles. He said if I could find the Wal-Mart upc or ordering code he might be able to order them for me. I guess I will try the online suggestion although the shipping for primers might get expensive. Thanks for the leads.

Remington no longer makes the 209-4 primer. Send them a Email and ask them. Try the CCI 209 it is the coolest of the 209 primers as of now.

I had heard the same thing, that Remington wasn't making them any longer but, my distributor said he had no problem getting them.

UPC code - 47700 00511 for a box of a 1000

UPC code - 47700 00510 for an individual box of a 100

I'll check with Remington Monday

Remington does continue to make and sell .410 primers.  They are now labeled a 209P-4

Thank you for your inquiry.  We checked with our Ammunition Factory & what we have listed for the .410 is the 209P-4 primer.
