Winchester X-150 rebate
« on: August 19, 2004, 08:08:44 PM »
I'm new to the forum and new to BP. I've researched most of the sub $200 rifles out there and found the Winchester X-150 for $199 at Cabela's plus $50 rebate. (Total $150). This is right in my price range. I read Randy's review of the rifle, but haven't found too much more info from users. I know it is made by BPI (CVA parent company) and probably has the same barrel construction (although Randy couldn't confirm this in his review) as the CVA Firebolt.  Does anybody have time with this gun? I sent email to BPI and winchestermuzzleloading customer support asking about the barrel pressures for magnums also for clarification. I am thinking that for $150, that this would be a great deal. Any input would be appreciated. (Yes, I want an inline bolt action, and sub-$200 price tag, but want accuracy and quality... hopefully with Winchester on the name this will come through?) :D

Got a Gander Mtn. here in town.  CVA Hunterbolt Mag 209 primer, $99.00.  Also have a Hunterbolt starter kit (rifle w/ camo stock, capper, sabots,video, and I think scope,) for $199.
Winchester sounds like a good deal.  The rebate may be in Cabela Bucks so you would still spend $200 just get more for your money.
LOL and welcome to the forums.

You might check your local Walmart if they carry black powder rifles; our local one that does has some really good prices and I see several of the newer release rifles. CVA Optima Pro, Traditions Pursuit, and two complete package rifles one T/C and one CVA. Most of them are right at $200 or less and the tax usually equals the shipping costs unless you are in Oregon where there is no tax.

jrifle,

Knight also has a $50 rebate on the Disc rifles. You can get an original Disc rifle for $179.95 after rebate. These rifles have GBQ steel barrels made in the USA.  Look on bottom right of page.

Basspro does have some great deals on their website;

As you noted, they have the Win X-150 on sale for $199 but you get a $50 rebate.

They have the T/C Black Diamond on sale for $199, no rebate.

Traditions Lightning LD (Long Distance)on sale for $169, regular Traditions on sale for $120.

IMHO, get a T/C or Knight.  You get what you pay for!   :grin:

Thanks for the input and links. I went ahead and ordered the X-150. My brother got one also. We will do a complete review for those looking for more information on the gun. (Delivery due in 10 days...)

I don't mean to pee on your parade, but you might want to be aware of this. This goes back to my earlier post about Gun Barrel Quality (GBQ) STEEL barrels Made in the USA. Well, I'll just leave it at that.

I've got a stainless/camo X-150 and I like it a lot. I have not had any problems with it and I have shot well over a hundred rounds through it. I think you got a good deal on the gun for $150. My gun really likes 100gr of T7 and 245gr Powerbelt HPs. I can get 1" groups at 100 yards with this load. Good luck and have fun! :D
