How does the new 2003 cam and a half tec series compare to the 2002
tec series?  Is there really that much less maintainence as far as
timing and the such? Is it smoother, more quiet...?  Specificly, how is the new razortec?

It is no more than a solo cam with an idler in the shape of a cam instead of a wheel.  Will perform/maintain as any solo cam.  Is slightly noisier, due to another cam slamming down.

Razortech is a low brace height bow and performs as such.

the reason you buy a TEC bow.. is the ENGINEERING that has
gone into the riser..  the riser is engineered to preform VIBRATION
SELF CANCELING  ... the analytical test eqip. shows that
when a TEC Riser is fired.. the vibrations all split up and routed
all over the riser ending up at the grip..where they try to rejoin..and self cancel each other out.. the vibration just..disspears..  hence the VERY
UNUSUAL AND ONLY BOW TO HAVE NO FOREWARD JUMP FROM THE RECOIL OF FIRING.. it just fires and sits there quietly in your hand..
 THAT IS  THE REASON TO BUY A HOYT TEC BOW.. the cam an half only
insures that once its setup properly... its pretty much maintace free..
just point and shoot.. seaon after season.. a little cleaning..oiling. and
a new string occasionaly.. is all you should ever have to do to a RAZORTEC, or most TEC bows... bows come and go.. but the TEC
design IS HERE TO STAY.. THEY GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME..
 ME.. I BOUGHT MY FIRST COMPOUND BECAUSE IT WAS A "RAZORTEC"..
 AND ITS VIBRATION AND MAINTANCE FREE.. PLUS..ITS A 300FPS + BOW
THAT IS DEADLY ACCURATE AND QUIET...  IT WILL  BE THE ONLY
COMPOUND I OWN FOR THE NEXT 2O YEARS.. AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IT WILL SHOOT AS WELL AS ANY NEW BOW BY THEN..HAVING BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF..WS

I would like to throw my :money: worth in here
but it is a lot more than a single cam with an idler that is shaped like a cam.
It is exactley what it says it is, a cam and a half.
I had an opportunity to shoot All of the new Hoyts at the ATA Show along with just about every other bow there and to be honest these bows out preformed all other bows on the floor IMO. these bows drawed very smoothly  had a fantastic wall and had 0 recoil and very quiet. you will have to shoot one to really apreciate how these bows preform.

I was also very impressed with the new Reflex/HoytUSA Buckskin and Timberwolf models which are also cam and a half bows which IMHO are far more stylish than the tec bows but that is just my taste, you guys may like the tecs looks and style better than the new reflex additions,but the Reflex Buckskin is the one I kept coming back to
along with the overall preformance of both brands of bows did not lack in speed either.
I was particularly impressed with the buckskin I shot was producing speeds 310 FPS at 65 lb draw 30" DL shooting 5 GR per # arrows and very accurately and the bow was set at mild I may be mistaken but I think these bows are capableof IBO rating of 325 FPS.
 

The new Buckskin will be my new hunting bow no doubt

I just got a new hoyt with the cam and a 1/2 and I have got to say I am impressed.  I was shooting a 2002 Martin Cougar Magnum and the 2003 hoyt is smoother, quieter and seems to fit my hand and shooting style better....This is my opinion however, other folks may find that this bow just does not work for them....But I have been very happy with it.

Hi i am looking at a Hoyt Pro Tec is this one of the better bows  that they make i dont know much about Hoyt .

Before you decide, go to a pro shop and check it out for yourself.  Ask lots of questions and shoot it if you can.  I've got a Hoyt UltraTec and really like it a lot.  It is one of the quietest, smoothest shooting bows I've ever seen.

I actually bought the new 2003 Hoyt Razortec w/cam and a half shortly after I posted this.  My last bow was also a Martin Cougar Mag. and it was an excellent bow, but I've shot this one 15-20 times now putting about 600 arrows through it so far and there is no comparison.  The hoyt is far better.  It is finally a bow I can settle down on for many years.  It's quiet, nearly vibration free, quick, "flat" shooting, and theres almost nothing to tune.  I know, I know it sounds like I work for hoyt but I don't I just love it.
