« on: August 21, 2004, 11:49:52 AM »
I sent the paper work out last week and it came in the mail today (8-21-04) ! Centre County Sheriff, Denny Nau approved it! Now I can carry in the "Key Stone State" as well as the "Empire State"!
It cost me a twenty dollar bill and is good until August 2009.

It is a shame that all states can't get together and recognize other states pistol permits. Sure would make things a lot easier for all law abiding citizens and hunters.

NIGHTTRAIN 52. My CDC is good in many states but I always sweat it when I cross into Illinois. Just having my pistol in the glove box is illegal there. POWDERMAN.  :(  :(  :(  :(

Congrats New York Hunter.  I have had a carry permit for multiple states for a while now, and it is comforting.

Something recently in the news that may harken postive change in this direction is the President's intent to sign into law the reciprocity for off-duty police to carry anywhere in the US.  I think this is favorable for us as it will be difficult for states to show the discriminate on the difference between trained ccw holders and off duty/retired police.  Mikey.

My New York permit is good in- AK, ID, IN, KY, MI, MO, OK, TN, and UT.

My Pennsylvania permit is good in- AK, GA, ID, IN. KY, MO, MT, NC, OK, TN, UT and WY. Florida and Michigan will honor Pennsylvania's permit but you have to be a resident of PA.

I'm gonna try to get a Florida permit next. There easy to get by nonresidents and are honored in more states then any other state I could find!
There good in- AL, AK, AR, AR, CO, DE, GA, ID, IN, KY, MS, MO, MT, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA and WY. Michigan and New Hampshire will honor Florida's permit but you have to be a resident of FL.

I also tried to get an Ill firearm owners ID card, or an foid. Nowhere did I see that residency was required so I sent my money. They turned me down but kept my money. I only wanted to be legal with my pistol in the car in the glove box when I go to visit family there. I don't carry all, or even most, of the time. Always in the car but rarely on me, except in the winter when I wear my heavy coat. POWDERMAN.  :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)

The president did sign that bill to allow all current and all honorably retired Police officers with 15 years or more of service who were enpowered with the powers of arrest to legally carry a concealed weapon in all 50 states as long as they carried thier active or retired ID with them and were licensed by thier home state to carry!!! This is now in effect...Thank you President Bush!!! May you be here for another term!!! This has not received a lot of press, and my feeling is the liberal media and news is avioding the news since the majority of the countries residents will see it as an "atta-boy" for the president....<><....
