SBH 7.5"
I am new to reloading for the .44 Mag.
Would the Rem. 240gr. JSP be an accurate bullet.
Will be using it for Deer, Bear, Hog.
I need a good inexpensive bullet.
Also do I need to use a Mag. primer with H-110

That would probably be a good bullet for hogs as I understand that hogs can be a bit tough and you might find hollow point bullets opening up too soon. I'm guessing the same would be true for bear. Dear you might want a hollowpoint for as they tend to less dense.

However if you are looking for good inexpensive bullets you might also try a hard cast lead bullet. They worked for Elmer and still work today. Just make sure they are the type with a good (big) flat point.

I think you will find that putting a really solid crimp on your rounds is as important to accuracy (through consistency of the powder burning) as the primer that you use. Try both regular and magnum primers to see what gives you the best accuracy.

I would suggest the Hornaday 240 gr XTP. It's an awesome all around bullet. Check the Hornaday reloading manual for loading data.

hylander:  Professor Fuller Bullspit has given you some good advice and many of the folks on this and other forums prefer the hardcast bullets in 44 mag loads.  However, with that being said, the Remington factory loads that same 240 gn jsp into both the 44 magnum and the 444 Marlin, so it is tough enough to hold together at both ends of that velocity scale and still do the job.  Lots of folks still use that bullet exclusively for 444 hunting on whitetail and hog, so there isn't anything wrong with it if that is your preference.  HTH.  Mikey.

The Remington 240 JSP should work well for you. You will have to work on a load the will work well in your gun for accuracy. Any more I use a hard cast bullet with a flat nose for hog hunting, but for bear my personal preference would also be a hard cast bullet. When using H110 I would recommend a magnum primer. JMHO.  :D

Every time I walk into the Bullet Express the dealer smiles because he knows I am going to buy $66 worth of those XTP bullets :? (four hundred)

The hard cast flat nose like and LBT wfn series shoots great though. Will probably be using these exclusively soon.

Hylander,
I would suggest you use a Mag primer any time you use H110 powder as you could save your self a lot of problems as far as consistency goes.
Don't SKIMP on your bullets, Use one of the better one's. You shoulde'nt
have any trouble bringing down about any thing you might come across.

I would also highly recommend Hornady's XTP 240gr JHP and Speers Golddot 240 GDHP, great game getters. My load is 24gr of win296,cci mag primers,using the 44mag. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Well I got a handful of Lazer Cast 240rnfp .431
They almost fill the Throats but still fall through.
I also ordered some 240gr. SJSP Magtech and
some 240gr. Rem. JHP
I will load with H-110 and Mag. primer
and see what I get.

Hylander,
   I have loaded for the .44 mag. since the 1960`s and have tried about every bullet on the market. The .240 Rem. HP`s are not bad for accuracy and are axcellant on terminal preformance on deer. My favorit bullet is the .240 grn. Serria JHP for deer. I find the Serrias to be just a little more accurate. The Hornady XTP bullets are great for accuracy, but they will not expand on deer at handgun velosities. The advice about going to the Rem. flat point for hogs is good, and so is the advice about the hard cast bullets with a large flat point. I buy Win.- 296 because it`s cheaper the H-110 but they are about the same powder and you should use mag. primers with eather. My guess is that you will not be able to tell the differance in accuracy with the different bullets you bought, unless you load some alot heaver and the recoil gets to you.  :lol:
