Who makes strong scope Rings?
« on: August 23, 2004, 02:49:03 AM »
I see on some guns in pictures having 3 rings holding a scope.
I was mounted with some B-Squares with a Ken Light base and the scope moved forward.
What is the solution? Glue the scope to the rings? Better rings?
Also is the Weaver 92A a good way to go?
Thanks in advance!

To get the full benefit from using a three ring setup I would go with having an extra pair of base mounting holes drilled and tapped. I like a Weaver 92A 6 hole and three ring setup. IMO most all major manufacturers make rings that are plenty strong enough if properly installed and aligned.

I've found that Millet rings are rock solid on a Weaver style base. Plus they come furnished with friction tape for that extra bite on a glossy scope.

Remember to perform a proper installation too!

You'll want to be sure to ream and/or lap the rings so the assembly remains stress-free and the scope-to-ring contact area is maximized. This will go a long way to assure both scope longevity and a solid, no-slip installation.

PS - GB always recommends the Burris rings with the plastic inserts :-)

I stopped my scope from walking with a piece of sticky back paper in the bottom of each ring. The kind that you find on sticky notes paper.  dave

The Warne Maxima vertical split rings are made of steel and serve me well.
