Just bought a 240 Weatherby mag
« on: August 25, 2004, 05:31:25 AM »
I just ordered a Weatherby Accumark off of GunsAmerica, in 240 weatherby.  I am looking forward to working with it a bit, and using it as another coyote/antelope/mule deer rifle.  Don't really need it, but I like to do my part to keep the economy running smoothly..... :-)
Regards,

Tom

Tom,

Excellent cartridge the .240 Weatherby.  It is the cartridge my daughter wanted me to get her.  We have taken many deer(both Blacktail and Mule) with ours.  Not finicky to load for either.  You should enjoy yours.  Lawdog

I sure hope you have better luck with your .240 than i had with mine. Two trips back to the factory with it. It was still a piece of junk. Traded it for a Browning in 257 Roberts.

Lawdog,
I guess this has nothing to do with the caliber. My .240 would not chamber a round from the magazine. Back to Weatherby. When it came back it worked a little better. This time they scratched the hell out of the stock. When i complained they told me it was like that when they received it.  I don't believe it.  I also had a Vanguard in 22-250. The dealer i bought it from and i both agreed it was a lousy shooter. The dealer sent it back to Weatherby. The answer from Weatherby was "if you wanted a target rifle you should have bought one"  I got ahead of myself. The first trip back with the .240 it still would not chamber a round when i got it back. I have a Vanguard in .270 Win. Best shooting rifle i own. I wouldn't take $1000 for it.
