.224 TTH ???
« on: August 25, 2004, 01:53:56 PM »
Thinking about buying one from a guy that had it built on a Winchester 70 action with 1-8 twist shilan barrel says its a tack driver with 75 gr. A-Max. Anybody out there have one, not sure I'm gaining much over my Swift?

Where you will gain is with the heavy bullets, you can push them fast out of the fast twist big cased 22's. Will move the lighter bullets out really fast too, but most will not stand up to the RPM's with the speed and fast twist. Bullets become a puff of smoke.

busman202002,

From the articles I have read and the two people that have one they all state that the 1-8" twist will NOT stabilize the lighter weight bullets.  They tumble and accuracy suffers because of it.  The .224 TTH works best with the heaviest .224 bullets(60 gr. and up) available.  Varmint hunting is not what this cartridge was designed for.  All depends on what you want to use it for??  Lawdog
