.375 win recoil
« on: August 25, 2004, 04:13:45 PM »
Whats the recoil like in a .375 winchester?  The round intrigues me.  How does it compare recoil wise to a .44 contender shooting fullhouse 240 grainers in a 10 or 12 inch barrel?

My 375 Win is a Super 14 barrel.  Recoil is less than my 44 Mag 10" barrel.  The difference in recoil does not seem to be as much as the type of recoil.  The 44 seems to thump the hand a little harder.  Very manageable in my opinion, but then again I do not think that my Super 14 45-70 is that bad either.

Bullseye,

One of two things (or maybe both  ) Either you have 1" thick natural recoil pad on the hands, or I'm a wimp.

Recoil on a 45-70 in any handgun length is murder in my opinion, well not really, but it is more than the common guy likes to play with.

I don't consider myself "recoil shy", but the 10" 44 Mag in Contender is one of the more "brutal" barrels I've shot.   IMO

I have the 14" barrel no brake.Recoil not that bad to me.I never have shot the 44 then the 375 to compare was not that concerned about it.The only barrel that really get my attention are hot 45-70 loads and 454 casull Ruger I have.
