TF 97 - anybody own one?
« on: August 26, 2004, 07:38:46 AM »
I know, they are Chinese made. However, after spending a lot of time on the web I find there are some good Chinese guns - very good for the money - and some bad ones, so bad you wouldn't want one for a door stop. I need an inexpensive spring gun with small game effectiveness at moderate range - 25 yards or so. Anybody used the TF79? I recall seeing postings that the TF 99 was good but it is too big and heavy for my needs.

lilabner,

Go to http://www.compasseco.com/article_tf97_flagship.htm and read the article that Tom Gaylord wrote about the TF 97.  I think it speaks very well for how the rest of the TF 97 owners feel.  Excellent rifles.  Very powerful and very accurate.  Lawdog

Sherpa - what about paralx?
« Reply #6 on: August 27, 2004, 02:42:43 PM »
Sherpa  you might be having some troubles with your sighting equipment.  A 3-9 non AO scope is likely set up for 100 paralax and shooting at much shorter ranges might be a problem.  Als0 - is your scope rated for a spring gun?

Now I'm not defending the TF guns - have no experience with them but your post got me to thinking about other likely problems.

sherpa,

I agree with Dand and too think it's a scope/mount/etc. problem.  Also it could be the hold you are using.  Shooting a pellet rifle(especially a springer) is a little different than shooting centerfire/rimfire rifles.  First thing I would check though is the scope.  Like Dand said if itÂ’s NOT airrifle approved then your defeating your purpose.  Let us know how what happens and between the shooters here we can try to help you.  Small groups and tight to you.  Lawdog
