Marlin sight installation, drill & tap
« on: August 27, 2004, 04:56:20 AM »
I have a newer Marlin 1894C in .38/.357 Mag that does not have the side mounting holes for a receiver sight.  My other Marlin lever actions have the mounting holes on each side of the ejector hole.  Would the proper procedure be to drill & tap the 1894C in the same manner?  Any problem with this?

Thanks in advance

Does yours have the safety button?  Is the rear screw going to interfere with the safeties operation or mechanism?  Even this should be a surmountable problem.. That would indeed be a handy combination..

Roundup,

Another option, if it does not have a tang safety, might be to pick up a Marble Tang site.  they are adjustable for windage and elevation.  On my 45LC 1894CB I use the single tang screw and have not drilled for the second hole because the base is concave and when snugged down hasn't moved so there is no modification to the gun.

Just a thought..
