300 win loads
« on: August 27, 2004, 11:30:36 AM »
I've tested my 165/168 grain bullets using H4831 and have settled on 76 grains.  I am now going to begin working up some loads using R22 with the same size bullets.  I have cross referenced my manuals and know the range (min/max loads).  I'd like to know if anyone has a favorite load for this weight/caliber using R22, that would narrow my range?

I think the latest Nosler book list Rx 22 for the 300 win mag.  They show it as the best accuracy performer for 180 gr bullets - forgot to look at the 165-168 gr  page.  Might be a good place to start.

I worked up a load using Winchester cases, Remington 165 grian PSPCL,Winchester WLRM primers, and 79 grains of Reloader 22. I'm getting about 3200 FPS, acuracy is pretty good, no signs of over pressure, but recoil is quite noticable.
Hope this helps
