One thing to consider is the availability of brass. The last I heard, .225 brass had been discontinued by Winchester. That does not mean that another maker won't produce it, but the risk of not having a source of brass is there. You could use .30.30 brass, but that is a LOT of work.
If you want your cases to last then headspace them off the shoulder, NOT the rim. Head seperations are likely, just as they are with the Herrett twins and the .35 Remington if they are improperly sized. Bottom line - ignore the rim.
The .225 will always give slightly less performance than the .22-250 because it has a smaller case capacity, but the difference is small. If you are willing to risk the brass issue and want something different, the .225 is a fine choice.
