I am considering a Tikka rifle, but would like to know their faults or downsides first. The bolt lock feature seems like it would be un safe considering the gun has to be off safe to load it. Thanks

I have a 558 Tikka in 243. The only thing I would change is the plastic trigger guard and the plastic slide on the back of the bolt. I have never heard of anyone having problems with either, but still . . . It seems funny, we Americans like polymers, plastics etc... on lots of other stuff including our rifle stocks, but on trigger guards etc it makes me feel kind of cheated. Although I knew it was like that on the rifles and my Tikka is one of my favorites

Tikka, aren't they made by Sako or is it Beretta?

Tikka was bought out by Sako. Then Beretta bought out Sako, meaning that both Sako and Tikka are owned by Beretta.

I agree about the plastic trigger guard and rear bolt guard. I have had no problems whatsoever, but it just seems cheap.

Other than that, I STRONGLY recommend Tikkas. Their quality is great, and their triggers are truly outstanding!

Buy one and you will be VERY happy! :-D

I have one in .22-250 and love it, but I do not care for the removable magazine. I would prefer a "normal" floor plate and follower. Other then that, they are a sweet setup, and mine has been very accurate. As mentioned in another post, the trigger in mine is very nice.
