Marlin 1894 CB in .32 H&R Magnum
« on: August 29, 2004, 12:29:13 AM »
Will a Marlin New Model 1894 CB in .32 H&R Magnum
also load/shoot  .32 S&W Long cartridges?

The gun will be used for crow and small varmint,
any ideas on the accuracy? up to, say, a 100 yards?

I don't like the concept of a scoped levergun, but this one will be used for small targets at distances 50-100 yards, maybe even more if accuracy permits.

any suggestions or thoughts on this carbine?

Thanks in advance...

The potential problem is the same for the .357 and .44 mag rifles.  The .38 Sp and .44 Sp cartridges are shorter and may hang up in the carrier.  What actually happens is being too short they allow the next cartridge in the mag tube to protude into the carrier.

I've seen the same models work or not based on "luck," or who know what.  Some seat their bullets further out to try to lessen this.

My pard in CAS has a .357 carbine that feeds both .38 and .357 without a hiccup.

As to accurcy I'll defer to those more knowledgeable in that area.

The real question is, when will they be on the dealer's shelves?  Anyone hear the latest guess on a release date?

Last I heard was late 04 to early 05; which means nobody knows.  Marlin does this will pretty much all their new lever actions:  lets the public know a loooong time in advance of the arrival date.  Guess that's to allow us to start saving up our pennies.

Hmmmm....And here I was hoping to have one in time for small game season here in Michigan.

Oh, well, maybe next year--barring a Kerry victory.

You will have it in time for the season, just not sure for which year

I'm also fly radio control airplanes and they do the same thing.  Put the ads out a good year before.  Gets everyone licking their lips in anticipation

Ahhhhh, artificially inflating the price by withholding the product to increase demand.  I wonder how much they'll cost by the time they get released?

Oh, by the way, I was looking to get the Marlin for small game hunting.  Is the .32 Mag (in revolvers) really popular amongst the CAS crowd?

They are getting that way.  Many ladies use it for the light (non-existent) recoil.  And several of the older pards are switching over for the same reason.
I got to use one of mine when my brother was able to knock both his Ubertis and one of mine out of commission in just two stages!  They (the 32s) are like shooting a 22 and alot of fun.  There were a few comments but since I'm such a rotten shot not too much was said about wimp guns.

In all fairness, it is a legal SASS caliber so it is OK to use it.

I have perty much switched over to the Ruger 32H&R mag pistols this year. I had a small stroke last Feb and my 45's are just too heavy to shoot one handed now.

The 32's are very accerate and a joy to shoot, I have been waiting fot the 32 Marlin rifles to hit the market and wuld be happier with a model 92 copy in 32H&R as I like the Winchester design better than the Marlin.

You should check the Michigan game laws as I believe that it is illegal to carry a centerfire rifle in the woods other than during the rifle Deer season.  It used to be leagle to hunt small game only with shotguns or rimfire rifles or rimfire pistols.

Greeenriver(It could be that the laws have been changed, but I would check before spending that much money)

YIKES!  Good thing someone thought of that.  Thanks.  That could've ended badly.  I'll check the regs and see what's what.  I'll probably get one, depending on price, anyway.  Practical?  Maybe not;  but why let that stop ya?

For those curious, it is legal to pursue small game with a center fire rifle, until rifle or muzzleloader season starts, with the correct liscence.  At least here in Michigan.

Only above the shotgun/rifle boundary line (divides the lower penninsula into 2 halves). At least thats what the DNR officer down here in the south east corner of the state tells me. The funny thing is that you can NOT use a .32 Marlin centerfire rifle below the dividing line but you can use a .454 Casull handgun ???  go figure.

Yep, you are right.  But I'm up here north of the shotgun zone.

Strangely, I think the rifle zone has expanded.  When I went to college in Mt. Pleasant, it was in the shotgun zone;  now, it's in the rifle zone.

My condolences.  I live between Lake Michigan and the Manistee National Forest.  Some of my family wonders why I live up here.  Duh....
