.22 magnum & .32 magnum

Hi, I'm thinking about buying either a .22  magnum or .32 magnum revolver.  I've have notice people stating how loud a .22 magnum is when shot.  Which is loudest a .22  magnum or .32 magnum?  I know that Taurus makes both the .22 magnum and .32 magnum.  Also Charter Arms makes the .22 magnum.  Also, what are you opinions on both in a self defense situation?  And also on the recoil?  When I take my Guardian .32 acp to the range, it hurts my hand.   I have very small hands.  I had a .22 caliber semi-auto in the past but it jammed constantly.  I'm thinking about getting a revolver, what do you suggest .22 magnum or a .32 magnum?

The 32 mag. is by far the loudest. as far as which one to buy you might take  into consideration the cost of your ammo. You take a giant leap up from 22 mag to 32 mag, another thing is what you will be shooting at. The only solution is to buy both. In self defense situation none of the above cartridges are great but I'd argue either of the 32's are substantially better than a 22 Mag.

The only reason your 32 ACP is uncomfortable to fire is the small platform and tiny grip you're shooting it from.  None of the above cartridges has enough recoil to worry about in a standard service sized arm.  The 32 Mag probably will produce the greatest recoil of the three.

If you don't reload the 22 mag will be the cheapest to shoot.

The 32 Mag would be better on the larger types of small game.

I bought my wife a 32 mag snubby. This was the only hand gun I have found her to use and be comfortable with, as she has AR in the hands. If one looks at the stats the 32 mag is not to far behind the 38 sp. The 38 sp or 9mm would be my lowest choice for self defence. The nurses in ER will tell you that they patch up a lot of people shot with a 22. They go home and then they die.

Just my opinion...
The .32 mag's powder capacity, as stated aint too much different than the .38 & bore size isn't really all THAT much different & the bore is .323 vs. .357 - not much!  It'll serve you a hole lot better than any rimfire.  Neither will hurt your hand, as your micro pistol does, count of poor grip design.  Try that Charter out, I READ they are pretty decent revolvers but have had financial woes & went under once already-think service & parts in the future.  I'd stay away from the autoloaders as they will fail to feed just when you really need it not to.  I had a stone simple Taurus PT-22 that wouldn't consistanty feed.  Well there you have it, my pair o' pennies

:cb2: Do .32 mag. cost that much more than .22 mag? I've never priced them, but around here .22 mags cost about as much as real bullets! (.38, 9mm, etc.) I'd make the jump and go with .38s.

Get a Ruger single six with a 22 mag cylinder. Doesn't kick much and it's loud enought to scare somebody. If you ain't macho don't get a macho gun.
