Resizing .308 for the M14
« on: August 30, 2004, 07:44:59 AM »
Having read the Sierra info on loading for the service rifle, I'm starting to size some brass to reload for my M305.

http://www.exteriorballistics.com/reloadbasics/gasgunreload.cfm

I've full length sized a few pieces of brass, adjusting the die so that the brass drops into the chamber of my M305 with it's own weight. If I push hard on the brass, I can still hook it out easily with my fingernail.
If I let the bolt slam home, it opens easy and ejects the brass.
As far as I can see, it's about right.

But, I see that I'm only sizing the necks about 1/8 inch. This doesn't bother me, I will just run it through a collet neck die.
I am worried if I am sizing it enough?
I don't usually full length size for my other guns so don't have a lot of experience with full length sizing.

Are you coming all the way down on the shell holder when you size, or are you using the FL die to neck size only? You also didn't say whether the cases you are reloading came from the same rifle?
